Jessica Star blogging after the Tuesday night jam, NYC
Good evening! I just got home from the jam at Kenny’s Castaways with Jason Rosen. I walked in- he called me on to the stage! I must remember to apply my lipstick BEFORE I walk in the club. So, I sang the first set with no lipstick, whatever. The microphone usually covers my lips anyway.
Tonight was fun and there were a lot of people down there. I went for a walk with some musicians and found a slice of pepperoni pizza… Why is pepperoni so darn good? It just is.
It’s late- 3am. I must go to bed now!
Other news? I just wrote a good tune called,” Boxes of tears”. It’s the second song on my new cd!
Kisses,

website construction! Live shows! Benefit jam!
My website is getting some lovely reconstruction! There is music on my site now! Soon we’ll be adding video! I’m very excited about this.
Live performing has been great. I sang up in Harlem at the Dinosaur Barbque with Mo’Soul, which is Jason Rosen’s band. The audience was very supportive and they dug the music. The food there was delicious. The Tuesday night jams at Kenny’s Castaways are always fun. It’s a very cool venue and looks like the inside of a pirate ship. I’ve been learning new cover songs and it’s a good place to debut them.
I’m writing new songs for my forthcoming album (get it; 4th coming, it’s my 4th album!)
What else, what else? There’s a benefit reunion jam coming up next Monday the 14th here in NYC for a musician named Lorin Donadio. Here is the info:

Jessica Star sings at Kenny’s Castaways for the Tuesday night jam and talks about it!
Tonight was a great time at Kenny’s Castaways. I have seven new songs that I’m singing with the band; Damn your eyes and Shakey Ground (Etta James), Groove me (King Floyd), Super Duper Love and Some kind of wonderful (Joss Stone), I want to take you higher (Ike and Tina Turner), and Do right man (Aretha Franklin). We played all of them tonight in preparation for our gig this Friday at the Dinosaur Barbque in Harlem. I have a feeling that show is going to be very fun.
There’s a lot of energy in the air right now! Summer solstice just happened and it definitely feels like there’s more light!
Good night,
Jessica Star

we saw John Rich and Cowboy Troy play in Atlantic City this weekend!
We went to Atlantic City this weekend and saw John Rich and Cowboy Troy ROCK Bally’s!!! The audience was mainly people who were gambling and then went to see the live show but there were some true fans in the house!!! MEEEE!!! I got the crowd up and rushing the stage! I mean, I know it was really the band but no one was dancing except yours truly and then two other righteous ladies joined me and then we danced to the front of the stage… On the third time we did this, all these people joined in! It was awesome. Two Foot Fred was getting down! They had a really good female duo with them called Jane Deere.
We walked the boardwalk and eventually settled on diner food at Johnny Rockets. The next day after sleeping in pretty late, we ate at a posh spot on the boardwalk in the Trump hotel and then went down to the beach and were giddy as our feet sunk deeper into the sand, lapping wave by lapping wave.

I sang tonight at Kenny’s Castaway’s for the Tuesday night jam with Jason Rosen
I just got home from the Tuesday night jam with Jason Rosen now happening at Kenny’s Castaways. What a cool venue! Have you ever heard musicians refer to themselves as “pirates” or “pirate types”? Well, Kenny’s Castaway’s is like the inside of a big ship! The jam was fun and the regular crew of jammers were there. I went and got myself some chicken kabob afterwards and hopped in a cab to come home to beautiful Brooklyn.
I am still working on writing my new cd! Geez, it takes time sometimes. I’m working on writing these very cool Country songs that have a lot of soul and directly reflect my own experiences. It is fun. This will be the first cd that I’ve done that was made as a complete album- starting from the songwriting. The others were compilations of songs I had written over the years. There might be a few old songs (old only to me since you haven’t heard them) that I put on the cd but mostly it will be brand new creations.
It’s late, goodnight!

Jessica Star playing solo at the Red Lion, NYC on Tuesday, May 6th from 7- 8:30pm
That’s right!
I’m doing my troubadour bit at the Red Lion this coming Tuesday night. It’s the “come to my show when you get out of work” slot… A great way to spend a Tuesday evening in spring…
What else? I’ve been singing with the rockin’ Jason Rosen every Tuesday night LATE at the Baggot Inn for his official jam and it has been a blast.
The last Tuesday we’ll do there is going to be May 20th. After that we’re moving over to Kenny’s Castaways in the same neighborhood.
After my gig on Tuesday, May 6th, most likely I’ll be singing at the Baggot with Jason and crew.
For you gardeners: Our Brooklyn garden is majorly sweet this year already.
There is tranquility in the city.
Keep dreaming,

Jessica Star sings at the Red Lion with Last Tribe, NYC
Tonight I sang at the Red Lion on Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village.
I sang with Last Tribe which is Jason Rosen, Antar (bass), Tomo (drums), Sing (lead rippin’ guitar) and Darin (awesome lead guitar). We also had a three piece horn section!
The gig was from 1-4am! Once again; YEEHAW. I love late nights.
It’s 4:41am as I write. I only stayed at the gig til 3am. It was my first time singing with those guys at that particular gig. It’s pretty much the same musicians as at the Baggot Inn jam on Tuesdays. I give a big shout out to MAC make-up! That stuff stays on and looks pretty much the same as when you put it on, hours afterwards and even after my gigs. Their lipstick really rocks.
I could blab on about all sorts of related and unrelated subjects but instead, I’m going to say goodnight!

Jessica Star rockin’ at the Baggot Inn, NYC
Tonight was really fun! I sang at the Baggot Inn again with Jason Rosen and his jam. My cool friend Kristen from yoga came with a friend of hers and that always makes for a good audience (to have buddies in the house). It is 4:38am right now! Um……..
I LOVE LATE NIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’M A NIGHT OWWWWWLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!
So, with that said; I sang a bunch of leads on songs and sang a bunch of harmonies and learned some songs while on stage. That is always fun; flying naked, flying naked.
Ah, I wore my new red Frye boots: ) They are so pretty. Kind of biker-cowgirl.
Goodnight lovlies!

Jessica Star singing at the Baggot Inn, NYC!
I sang at the Baggot Inn last Tuesday, March 4th with Jason Rosen and his jam. What fun! He’s asked me to be in a band with him and his guys so I’ll be singing every Tuesday with them at the Baggot Inn until it apparently closes. Yep, word has it that it is another NYC club that will be shutting down. Wha! Expensive rent!
We had a great time on Tuesday. I sang lead on about 10 songs and harmony on a bunch of others. Bassist, Kentucky Parkis and Drummer, Dave Dawson were there and playing. Also Karel, the jazzy sax player was there and we all shared the stage and made some wild sounds!
It’s a good work out for me and I really do enjoy it. It IS a jam so if you’re a musician, come down and bring your instrument!
Rock on, rock on, rock on,
Jessica Star

I jammed last night at the Baggott Inn with Jason Rosen
I sang last night at The Baggott Inn with Jason Rosen and a whole host of talented musicians! Tuesday night jam in NYC’s Greenwich Village, not bad. It was fun. More of a funky R&B feel to the Country I’ve been playing. I sang, “Baby, I love you” and “To love somebody”. It’s always a little like flying naked when you get up on the stage with no rehearsal and hope for the best! They’re all pros though so it was great.
I am playing a gig this coming Saturday night, Feb.9th at Solas in the East Village, NYC.
It’s a benefit to help save the 160 year old Irish Famine St. Brigid’s Church.
These cool opportunities keep revealing themselves to me and I love it! I love to help out through my music.
That’s all for now!

I just played the Evolver: Wake up and Dream party!
I just got home from the “Evolver: Wake up and dream” party at Jivamukti Yoga School near Union Square in Manhattan. I’m so happy. What a great crowd! There were a bunch of Burning Man people there and also yoga practitioners. Nice people to play for. This year so far has been really full on! I’ve recorded the first song on my new album with heavy-weight Nashville musicians and played two really great shows. I’m grateful! Keep it coming! The combination of yoga, a clean diet, and right motivation is really working for me as far as getting my music out to more people and really moving forward. Yeah. I also did a photo shoot with my photographer friend, Darin Chumbley in Central Park last week. It was drizzly and cold but we got some good shots. Alright, that’s all for now. Be well and check in soon!
