Greetings from NYC the day after Al Gore spoke at NYU for the Move On organization! Did you see him? He was magnificent! It is so refreshing to hear a politician speak so truthfully and passionately about the current state of our country! If we can make it unscathed through the next seven months until we democratically win the Presidency, I think we might be able to crawl out of the nasty hole this regime has put us in. I apologize for the atrocities this regime has caused. I know Im not responsible but someone needs to apologize! The state of the world and our nation FORCES us to become politically active because as weve seen, if we dont, the nastiest of nasty people will take over and cause pain to everyone they touch. I have always had a very hard time understanding the mentality of wanting to control people. I think you must not have a very uninteresting relationship to yourself if you need to put rules on other people and control them and their lives. I value freedom above all else except love! I know its been deemed hippy values and leftist ideals but love and freedom are more powerful than any kind of regimented control! Every beast and human fights for freedom when they dont have it! Love is the force that makes life possible! Good will reign and those who seek to harm will pay. I am so opinionated! It seems we have to speak out these days lest people who dont have our best interests at heart speak for us as an American People. Pray for us as a global nation to make it through these next seven months. There is hope for a better future and now weve seen what happens when chaos takes the drivers seat. Make sure you vote in the upcoming presidential elections! Make sure youre registered! Musically speaking, I auditioned for a band called The Healers and I am now their new lead singer! My own band is coming along fantastically! We have three shows coming up this month here in the city and weve added harmony vocals to our sound! It is absolutely beautiful outside today and were going on a Reggae boat cruise around Manhattan for our friends birthday! Im knitting up a storm as usual and I think the future looks more hopeful for our standing as a respectable country in the big ol world! JessicaWednesday, May 19, 2004

I do believe theres a lot of truth to the belief that frustration brings change and growth. Ive experienced enough to know that there is a lot of energy in anger and sadness that if channeled right can be amazingly creative. I read somewhere, probably in a fortune cookie, that if you feel that the time or moment is upon you, start! Maybe I didnt say that quite right but you know when you feel like youre wasting time and life is urging you to make the move? Ah, maybe youre one of those people who really have their act together and no one ever has to remind you to get off your duff? Well, Im a duff sitter from way back. My favorite place to sit my duff down is at the beach! Yep, I even have a very favorite spot and a favorite beach! I know people in Northern California who have no goals in life! They surf! That is their goal, to surf as much as they can! I know others there that consciously do nothing. They say that the whole world is focused on getting stuff done and its good to just do nothing sometimes. Ah, nothing could make me happier! Okay, you caught me in a late night rambling session! Last night we played at The Bitter End and it was really fun! We had a good turn-out of friends and music lovers alike and rocked the house so to speak. We got booked for another show there on Wednesday, June 23rd from 10-11pm so, get your $5 ready and save the date!!! The ironic thing is that 20 minutes before our scheduled time-slot last night, as the other band was playing, the power went out! Now, it wasn't due to the crazy monsoon we had a few hours earlier in the day because the weather was calm and clear when it happened! So, we got to start our set on time due to the fact that the other band quit 20 minutes early but our bassist, 'cash and our keyboard player, Guido weren't able to play! They only had enough power for my guitar, and three vocal mikes and they had to keep the sound down! So, Dave, our drummer, Jared, our flute and sax player and I played the set. Usually Jared plays lead guitar but due to the outage, he played the wind instruments! You guys rocked! The other irony is that I mentioned to the sound man that I really wanted to make sure the sound wasn't too loud when we played and what happened? Ha! It was an acoustic set! Thank you to all of our friends and fans who came out last night! We love you! JessicaWednesday, May 12, 2004

Tonight is our show at The Bitter End in Greenwich Village& Weve promoted quite a bit and should have a good crowd! Its sunny and hot today with a forecast of showers in the afternoon so, hopefully that wont keep people inside! We have two songs that are new to us as a band, Old Train Blues and, Rainbow Bridge that were going to debut tonight! Guido and Dave sing so theyre singing back-up vocals and it sounds SWEET! Ive been riding my bike around the city, checking out Riverside Park and getting more confident riding in traffic. Its pretty funny, I was riding in traffic and feeling like I was so brave and then this little kid passed me on his bike like he was riding down a country lane! Yeah, Im so brave! The delivery guys here really know the streets! They ride which ever direction they want to, in the middle of the street, going the wrong way, diagonally, through the red lights, whatever! I kept getting sporadic memories of the movie, Flash dance when shes riding around the city on her bike& Burning Man is approaching fast! Get your tickets and get the week off from your job (if you have one)! There is a great jam every Monday night at The Cutting Room on 24th between Broadway and 6th (could be 5th) hosted by Richie Cannata that Ive been singing at. It is really fun. The level of musicianship on stage is incredible! I sang, Baby, I love you and, Natural Woman a few days ago there and it was SO FUN!!! That was the first time I sang, Natural Woman on stage and it went well. Another female singer named Kathy traded verses with me and we both harmonized with each other and the band ROCKED!!! The Cutting Room is owned by Mr. Big from Sex in the City& Thats all for now, hope to see tonight at the show and enjoy the beautiful weather! Jessica StarThursday, May 06, 2004

Well, good evening viewers, it's late here in Metropolis and I felt like journeying through the stars here on this webpage and chat to the cosmos... How are ya!? Well, life is rockin' as usual here and spring is amazing. I'm very happy with my band and music and the shows we've done lately. There is just a lot of energy outside and inside making beautiful things happen. It's fun to be really involved in life. There were times when I thought it was more fun to be out of society and away from people but right now, I'm really digging the inner action, I feel like it speeds everything up. I'm really liking the new c.d. I bought from the band Rasputina. I saw them at Town Hall right here in the city and they were fantastic! I'm sure I wrote about that concert in previous entries. I'm just enjoying my life. I feel VERY BRIGHT right now and healthy and in the right place at the right time. I feel lucky and blessed like the magic of life is right there and I'm part of it. Pretty cool, huh? I think it's just a state of mind and just digging who you are and the way you relate in the world. I'm loving New York City even more as the beautiful flowers are opening for the first time this year and people are going out later at night and making plans now that there isn't massive amounts of snow on the sidewalks and freezing winds biting through your clothes... Ah yes, this was my second winter here and I loved it! This really is one of the most gorgeous places I've ever lived. I look forward to checking out Amsterdam sometime soon and seeing even older architecture. Alright, enough rambling... To all you newly weds and soon to be married people~ Congratulations!!!
